Tony and the Kids!

On Saturday, January 9th, the day began with a fun kids' workout with Tony Horton, Mr. P90X man himself! Tony talked to the kids about healthy eating. And just like Sunday school, after a few minutes the kids knew the 'right' answers...broccoli and chicken  not candy and donuts! Always a danger asking kids questions in large assemblies..and more than one parent was slightly embarrassed when their child
told Tony they had donuts for breakfast!

The kids learned fun moves like 'Banana Rolls!'  Then after the workout, the kids lined up in a very neat line, I must say, and each of them went home with an autographed picture to remember the day!

While the kids were getting autographed pictures, the exclusive coach luncheon with Tony was being set up in the next ballroom!

Beachbody Coach Steps to Success #3

So what's another step you can take to be successful in your Beachbody business? See the P90X tshirt that Dave is wearing in this picture (the one on the right?)  Today's topic is "2 Exposures a Day."  But first, I'm a mom and a home school mom at that, so after school, I'll fill you in and you can start your 2 exposures a day! (Not what you think!)

It's risk-free!

Did you realize that joining as a Beachbody Coach is risk-free?
How do you get started, exactly?

1. $39.95 Coach kit and website fee.

    • Do you realize that there are people making more in the first 2 years with Beachbody than people who've paid half a million dollars to start a franchise do in their first 4-5 years? Beachbody has 4 million dollar earners already..and we are still in what could be called the Beta test mode. I know what you are thinking; 'that could never be me.' Well, it could. But more importantly, it shows you can make a little or a lot. You don't have to want to make a million! What about $100 extra a week or month? Would that change anything for you?
2. Starting the 2nd month, the coach fee is simply $14.95.  Come on! That's less than I paid for my last pair of Fox River socks! For a business that now pays us more than Dave made full-time at FedEx.

3.  Successful coaches are also Club members $38 a quarter and use at least 50 pv or about $50 worth of products a month. Dave and I have trouble keeping it under 100 pv a piece because we use so much. Shakeology alone...our kids love it and we go through 2-3 bags a month!

So what does this mean for you and for the people you are sponsoring as coaches?  Start up for $135. If you want to be on the fast track, then I recommend doing more. Coach kit, Club, Shakeology and Coach Showcase pack for around $366.  To start a business!

There is no company out there like Beachbody that has a complete and successful product line for both fitness and weight loss. No company in the world has what we have. Did you know that the fitness industry is an $18 Billion industry and the weight loss industry is $60 Billion? You can leverage that as a Beachbody Coach with the best company and with a ground floor opportunity.

If you are already a coach, don't sit on the sidelines and watch it go by. Get out there and start sharing with people. In 5-10 years, do you want to look back and tell people you were in at the beginning of the multi-billion dollar company or will you be telling people..."I could have gotten in at the beginning of that..."

Today is the Day. No Risk. Little investment. Huge possible returns. Get on the train now!

Beachbody Coach Steps to Success #2

Commit to your Beachbody Business
  • Know your "WHY"  -  Why are you a Beachbody Coach?
    • Accountability for your weight loss?
    • Motivation
    • Extra money
    • Replace your full-time income
    • 25% discount on Shakeology.
      •  You have to know your why. Write it down. Create a picture board. Make it visible and concrete instead of just thinking about it. You've heard about 'the power of the written word,' and in this case, writing down your Why will empower you to do what it takes to get there.
  • Set up a time in first 24-48 hours to sit down with your coach or talk on the phone.
    • Get contact info and times
    • Find out when webinars/trainings are going on that you can use
    • Then set up the next call within a week
  • Getting Started Tab (in Coach Office)
  • Learn basics
    • Setting up your profile/bio and Beachbody webpage
    • How to place orders
    • How to send people to your page to order
    • Setting preferred placement
    • Logging into WOWY
  • Read something or watch videos in your coach office regularly. I go into my coach office every day and watch at least one of the videos or read from Momentum.
  • Write down your business goals, both long and short term.
    • Where do you want your business to be in 1 month, 6 months and 12 months?
    • What date will you be Emerald? Diamond? Write it down. Say it out loud.
    • How many coaches will you help get to Emerald? Diamond? By when?
  • Then establish a plan of Action. Your plan of action will be determined in part by how big your WHY is!
That's it in a nutshell. Very basic. Certainly not everything I do in a live training, but critical first steps to take in creating a successful business. And I want you to be successful.

Beachbody Coach Steps to Success #1

So! You are a Beachbody Coach now! What is your first step to being successful?

1. Commit to your Health, Fitness, and Nutrition.

  • If you haven't already, order your Showcase pack or an individual workout program like Power 90 or Slim in 6 or P90X... and an Activit vitamin pack or Shakeology.
  • Set your short term and long term health and fitness goals. Write them down!
  • Start planning healthier meals. Try out the Club meal planner or use the meal plans in your Beachbody program or simply start using Michi's ladder.
Being a product of the product doesn't mean you have to jump right into P90X! It doesn't mean you ever have to do P90X. Being committed to your fitness program means just what it says. You may not do it perfectly. You might miss days and you might not be able to drive by McDonald's every time. But if you stay committed, that means that you continue to do your best.

One of the really cool things about becoming a Beachbody coach before you even order your Shakeology or Power 90...is that not only do you get the 25% discount but as you start to use those programs, people will notice. And it will be a natural lead-in for you to share with people. People will see you changing. They will notice maybe that you are happier, that you come into work with a spring in your step and that your clothes are fitting a little looser. And they will ask you...How are you losing weight? Why are you so happy today? Seven and a half years ago when I was first losing weight with Power 90, people were coming up to me daily asking me what I was doing! Wish I could have gotten the commissions from all those sales!

Now you may be Mr. or Mrs. Ripped and have never struggled with weight. So how about you? You've gotten in phenomenal shape again with one of Beachbody's programs but no one ever really saw you as overweight.  People are still going to ask you how you stay so fit. What's your secret? And you can tell them which Beachbody workout you are doing. You are in a prime position to share about Beachbody because people have been watching you all along...maybe enviously, thinking you are one lucky dude. But now you have proven workouts to help them and they can do it at home with no one watching!

"Anne, I'm not ready to start exercising..I just feel too heavy..What about me?" I got that question this week. Then, you start with Shakeology. Shakeology is something everyone should be using and for you, if you aren't ready to dive into a full workout program, then use Shakeology and gradually add in the Shakeology workouts. Shakeology is the cornerstone of our nutritional line and is only available through you, the Team Beachbody Coach.  As you start to lose weight the healthy way, with Shakeology, light exercise and improving your other meals, people will want to know how to do the same thing.

So that's it! Step #1. Commit.  Or as Beachbody has always said.. Decide. Commit. Succeed!

Until next time.
In this together,

I'm a Network Marketer

There are a lot of terms in our language sure to make some people gasp and 'Network Marketer' seems to be one of those. But I'm okay with that...now. I know it may surprise you that Beachbody created a network marketing side. I know at first I was surprised, but at the same time kind of excited because here was something I could really stand behind and believe in. Although to tell the truth,  it did take me a year or so to get comfortable calling myself a network marketer. But don't hold that against me. If you find an honest company with truly great products, network marketing can be the cat's meow! I don't blame you for being skeptical or afraid. We had 16 years of experience in other companies and quite frankly, I was completely done with MLM until Team Beachbody started.

"Anne, you don't understand..I've had a bad experience...."  Yes, when it comes to failing in MLM, I think I do understand.

Dave and I are just ordinary people. And when we got married 24 years ago, we had boatloads of dreams. We were going to be different than the norm. We were going to be financially independent so we wouldn't have to rely on a job. We wanted to have choices and not do the usual 9-5 for our entire lives. When we got married, we were already in our first network marketing company. In fact the first 16 years of our marriage we were in 6 different businesses, with Amway/Quixtar/Team in Focus taking up at least 12 of those years and over $40,000 in 'investment.'  All the companies we joined are still around today and have good products. And I won't put any of them down, I don't think the company was to fault for our lack of success.
But as often happens, as you start up a family and get a house and cars, those early hopes and dreams start to fade. Being a single income family was not easy. We scrimped and saved. We drove old, paid for cars and fixed up houses that no one else really wanted. And we made do. And finally we gave up on our dreams.
And I don't know if you've gone through that, but for me, it felt like someone stuck a blunt object in my chest. I remember the day when Dave and I admitted to ourselves that our hopes and dreams would never happen. And that we needed to get out of our "Quixtar debt" and live like 95% of the population does. Day to day. No more dreams. And I almost felt physically ill and trapped when we decided to quit dreaming.
But over time we got conditioned to it. But then I found myself squashing my children's dreams. They would tell me what they wanted to do when they grew up or places they wanted to go and I couldn't "play" along anymore. My oldest boy would talk about learning how to fly a plane and I would tell him, "I wish that was possible, but you know we'll never have the money for that." I feel terrible now but how can I instill dreams in someone else, if I have none myself?
So...why/how...are we becoming successful with Beachbody when we couldn't do it with 6 other big companies?
I don't know..maybe I just wasn't passionate about taking chunks of old toilet tanks out of the dump and showing people how to get the lime off with this amazing product. Sure, I did have my glory days as an Quixtar distributor..my family and best friend called me 'the stain queen' because I could get most stains out of anything! That was exciting. :) But I couldn't sell anything. They just brought the items to me to get the stains out!  You know, I couldn't even sell girl scout cookies when I was young. I'm not a salesperson.
Team Beachbody is just different. I see people with real life transformations every day now. I get phone calls from people who never had success with weight loss before and had given up on ever feeling good again.  Beachbody's workout programs are second to none. Shakeology literally is the healthiest meal of the day with 70 ultra healthy ingredients from around the world.
We are making a difference in our physical and financial health with Beachbody. And it boils down to persistence and not giving up. That's it. This time we aren't giving up. We've got something that NO other company out there even comes close to having and we know it. And we are passionate about that. We are done working for somebody's else's dreams.
Are you willing to work as hard for your dreams as you are for your boss' dreams?

Anne

If your team did what you did today...

In reading through the System articles that Larry Zimberg has written, something really hit me and it was from his article, "Treat your Business like a Business." And at the end of the article he asked the question, "if your team did what you did today, would they have made any money?" And that got me to thinking and looking seriously at the activities I was doing for my business. Same thing could be asked about your health which we know is integral to our Beachbody businesses.  And I started to ask myself these questions:

  • What activities am I doing that are merely busy-work?
  • Am I teaching others so they can duplicate and grow their business?
  • Are my activities relevant and duplicable?
  • What specific activities are productive and the best use of my time?
  • And Larry's question..If my team did what I did today...???

Treat your business like a business. It's one of the most challenging messages to convey. It's a term that's often said and often heard, but what exactly does it mean? It means taking your business seriously by making proper use of the time that you have committed to doing this business and by focusing on doing only the activities that are a priority in moving your business forward. It means showing up, operating with a sense of urgency, and finally, not letting anything interfere with the time you've committed to doing this business. If you've set aside an hour a day, then let nothing get in the way! Guard that time as you would any important appointment, such as a doctor's appointment, a conference with your child's teacher, or a mandatory work meeting. Let your family know that you would like their understanding and cooperation in allowing you to work undisturbed during this time; after all, it is for their benefit as well. What we're really talking about here is Time Management.

To read the rest of the article, log into your Beachbody Coach online office and look in the latest Momentum Coach newsletter!  Guess what? This counts towards your 10 minutes of personal development today!  If you want to be successful, learn from successful people!

90 Day Personal Development Challenge

I just picked up the October 2009 issue of Success Magazine at the bookstore and it is packed with great stuff. I have a subscription, but I saw this on the stand earlier this week and I had to have it.

3 weeks ago, I made a commitment to read or listen to a good personal development book or audio for 10 minutes a day. 10 minutes! Seems pretty insignificant when you think of it. What can 10 minutes do?

One of the books I'm reading is The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson .  I started to realize that it's not the big thunderclap events that shape our lives. It's a series of small, seemingly insignificant actions and decisions compounded over time for good or bad results. That goes for any area of your life.

Jeff reminded me that if I have a cheeseburger and fries today, it's not going to make me gain 20 pounds this week. It's not going to cause instant heart disease, this week. But 20 years of that kind of habit, will cause deterioration in my health and might result in me having to pay someone $15,000 per stent to open my blocked arteries. And we often don't see that right now. Sure, we see it in other people. But I'm 44. I've got time, right? Problem is we think that and before we know it 20 years has passed. Back to...

10 minutes! Jeff Olson reminded me in his book that 10 minutes might not change your life today. But what if you read 10 minutes or listen 10 minutes every day for the next year?  Or maybe just the next 90 days? That's 900 minutes.

This simple concept really hit me. I knew that personal development needed to be an ongoing habit. But I would grab a book and get overwhelmed feeling like I had to make it all the way through that book, reading chapters at a time.  There was a problem with that for me. 1. I am a busy mom. I don't have hours and hours to sit, uninterrupted.   2. I can't absorb that much because my mind is just going a million miles a minute sometimes. 3. I can't think of a 3 right now, but you really can't start a sequence and end it with 2.

Now when I look at the book or magazine on my desk, I look at the clock. Okay. 10 minutes. Now I don't have the excuse not to pick up the book thinking the next chapter just looked too long for the time I had. Just 10 minutes!

Success Magazine will last you for a couple of weeks' worth of 10 minute readings! Plus, it comes with a free cd/dvd. I searched XMradio one day for a personal development channel, but I must not have a big enough plan. So I fill my cd player with Success magazine cds. And their website is also full of lots of free articles and tips too. I've also listed some other resources I've come across lately in the bar to the right.

I'm going to tell you already, in just 3 weeks' time, I've become more productive and what I need to do in my business has become more clear and I feel like I have more energy.

Join me in the next 90 days. Challenge yourself to 10 minutes a day. Mark it on your calendar along with your daily workouts. Then come back at the end of 90 days and tell me what happened!

What will your 10 minutes be today?

Great friends..all because of Beachbody

So excited tonight to have Cammie Lusk on our webinar presentation! We had way too much fun during the time when we were setting up her microphone and webcam!  Cammie shared her amazing story and then shared Beachbody's mission to reverse this obesity trend, and the products and programs they have created and are creating to make that difference.

Here is the really cool thing. Dan and Cammie live an hour from us but most likely, we never would have met if it weren't for Beachbody. Dan ordered P90X from the infomercial. Was coached by Mike and Kelley Ryan  who suggested Shakeology along with the workouts. And with the help of Dan and Mike, Cammie has been doing P90X, taking Shakeology, getting stronger and feeling better than she has in a long time. Then one day I got to one of our local Beachbody coach meetings and there was Dan. He introduced himself as a new coach under Mike Ryan. Well, I was blown away. Mike is a coach in my team in California! And he sponsored Dan in Nebraska. What a small world!  Mike and Kelley ordered P90X, started getting amazing results and started sharing that with others and in turn we got to meet the Lusks. And our family has been tremendously blessed.

We started our Beachbody business with goals. We met those goals and set new ones. We had no idea that along the way we would make friends with some of the most incredible people we know..and from all across the country..who have touched our lives and challenged us to be better in everything we do.

Set your fitness goals. Set your business goals. And go for it! None of it is easy, but it's so worth it!

57 days until the Game Plan Event

We are going to be there! Pull out the stops and get qualified if you aren't already! I just selected our flights on Travelocity and am now trying to decide where to stay for the extra day. We can't be that close to the ocean and not stay a day to soak it in! So it's 56 more workouts until the event. Anytime we have an exciting Beachbody event coming up, I count down by how many workouts until we leave! That keeps me focused on making sure I get my workouts in, but also a little more focused on what goes in my mouth!

The schedule starts with an optional workout and then a welcome reception that Friday night. The work begins on Saturday. Of course we start the day with a workout! This is Beachbody after all! Then I don't know what comes next but it promises to be a power packed weekend.

The next Beachbody event that you have to start planning for, if you are a Beachbody coach, is Summit. Last 2 years it has been held the first part of March. Anyone who registers can attend this. So start saving your pennies and put it on paper that you are going to be there. You get to work out with the trainers, hang out with cool Beachbody coaches, customers and staff. It's a weekend not to miss. You will leave inspired and with all kinds of new friends.

A workout freebie from Tony Horton and Beachbody

If you haven't worked out in awhile and just need a kickstart, try this workout.

RevABS

Today was my day for Chalean Intervals, but I decided to do RevAbs instead. RevAbs is another Beachbody workout program that is due to hit the website later this fall. Subscribers to Tony's One on One workouts frequently get freebies with their monthly One on One workout and this month, the freebie was a sample workout from RevAbs. I've done it three times now and I know I am going to love this program.
The sample workout appears to be from an earlier part of the program because Brett Hoebel, the trainer, talks about the journey beginning. This workout is broken down into 3 sets. The first set, I did okay. Didn't really break a sweat. I did get my heart rate up a little bit and had to concentrate towards the end of each move to make sure I had my form right and wasn't slacking off. The 2nd round, I started to sweat. The isometric plank abs move was more challenging the 2nd time around. Heart rate went up some more and started sweating more. Third round I had to do a gut check. It felt good to finish. The cool down and stretch was around 4 minutes.
I am really looking forward to this program when it rolls out this fall!

Until next time,
Anne

Webinar Tips for Beachbody Coaches

Webinars have been a tremendous tool in growing a large and healthy Beachbody team. We use webinars to share our own Beachbody Business powerpoint, but also live coach trainings.
On any one webinar, we will have people represented from all over the country.. Hawaii, Alaska, Florida, Illinoins, Indiana, Rhode Island... It just blows my mind sometimes! So why do I do them live rather than just providing a recording? To me there is an element of it being more like a conversation when it's live. We make mistakes but it's okay. I love doing the webinars now and I love connecting with coaches and people looking at being a coach.
So what are some tips for a successful presentation on the internet?

1. Sound. We tested out a lot of microphones when we first started and decided that the headset microphone with USB connection and an on/off switch was the best thing, especially if you are doing presentations with another person. The USB connection had a better sound than the other connection type ( I told you, I am not a professional) and definitely better than an internal microphone. The internal microphone will work, but it sounds kind of like you are in a tunnel. When you do presentation with another person, it's almost necessary for you both to have headset microphones so that when the other person is talking, the listeners won't hear the echo of you coming across the other person's speakers. Another tip is when the other person is talking, turn the switch off on your headset. After doing hundreds of webinars, you get comfortable and you might forget and blow your nose or sigh or laugh...and that will be heard as well as the other person trying to present. :) Just remember to unmute yourself a few seconds before it's your turn to talk again. I bought my headset off of Amazon and it was really affordable. And..it's tax deductible!
2. The Webinar service. Shop around. There are a lot of webinar services out there. Even some you can try for free for a couple of weeks. Some use a call-in number and have other features like auto invitations and tracking tools. We chose Instant Presenter because we liked it that our participants could log in and listen on the internet and not have to use a call in number. It's a little more expensive, but if you are serious about growing your business and are serious about using the service, it's worth it. And you may even get a better deal if you call the service and ask them what kind of price they would give you if you paid a year in advance.
3. Time. Be respectful of your audience and be prompt. Have the webinar set up on time and start it on time. You may have late comers, but don't back up and start over. Just keep going and if they want to hear what they missed, you can arrange to go over it with them after the close or at another time. Personally, I try to keep my presentations at or under 30 minutes. And stick to the presentation. This is a business overview, not a life story.
4. Distractions. Most services offer a chat box. If it gets too chatty..Say you have a couple people carrying on a conversation, then you can shut the chat function off. It will distract you and the other participants of a couple people are just having fun in the chat window. Also, if someone asks a question in the chat window, don't feel bad about simply saying.. "I see you have a question. Remind me at the end of the webinar and I will answer them then." During a webinar or presentation is not the time to start going in depth to answer questions or you will be there all night. If you don't think you can say that, then keep the chat function off. One reason to keep it on, maybe in "to presenters only" mode is so they can let you know if the sound quits broadcasting.
5. Contact. Another way to answer the questions people have is to offer your contact information at the end of the webinar and allow some time in your schedule in case someone wants to call and ask questions. Or, I stay online and answer questions that come through the chat at that time.
6. Recording. Some webinar services will record for free or part of the fee. I said in the beginning I do our webinars live, but I will be recording one just to use on a limited basis when someone I'm talking to just can't make a webinar time.
7. Schedule. Once you start doing webinars, I recommend you set a time when you can do it at the same time every week, so your team knows to expect it. Then, if you have time set aside, you can do extras too. Sometimes a coach will call me and ask me if I have time to do a webinar right then, and if I can I will. It's like a 3 way call only with pictures! And I don't get sidetracked because I'm following the slides!
8. Promote. Promote your presentations continually to your team. The reason we do webinars is so that all the coaches in our team, whether personally sponsored or not, have a resource they can tie into to share Beachbody and the incredible opportunity that we have until they feel comfortable doing it themselves.
9. Team Up. If you are a part of our team, you've heard us talk over and over about teaming up with someone for success. It's so important. We teamed up with our friends, the Fitzgeralds when we first started our Beachbody business. We've worked together 2.5 years now, brainstorming, planning, creating, doing, growing, learning... And if one of us isn't available, then the other person does the webinar or meeting. When you team up, you also have a wider base of attendees and there is power in numbers.

I hope some of these suggestions and tips will help you as you are building your successful Beachbody business.
