Treat your business like a business. It's one of the most challenging messages to convey. It's a term that's often said and often heard, but what exactly does it mean? It means taking your business seriously by making proper use of the time that you have committed to doing this business and by focusing on doing only the activities that are a priority in moving your business forward. It means showing up, operating with a sense of urgency, and finally, not letting anything interfere with the time you've committed to doing this business. If you've set aside an hour a day, then let nothing get in the way! Guard that time as you would any important appointment, such as a doctor's appointment, a conference with your child's teacher, or a mandatory work meeting. Let your family know that you would like their understanding and cooperation in allowing you to work undisturbed during this time; after all, it is for their benefit as well. What we're really talking about here is Time Management.
